All under one umbrella

My mentor had told me once, “Kruthiha, you are not working for the company, you are not working for your manager, you are not working for your salary, you are not working for your family. You must believe that you are working for God.”

She is a very spiritual person indeed. She convinced me with her explanation.

She said that, “when you work for your company, you expect a reward; when you work for your manager, you expect appreciation; when you work for your family, you expect validation. You give your best when these are provided, but when these are not provided, you feel disappointed. You feel that your work is undervalued. You experience a decline in energy and efficiency.

The thought of working for God brings you under one umbrella. He makes sure that your every day is balanced and every work is compensated. You work hard at the office, and you are taken care of at home comfortably. When your day at home is terrible, you are taken care of at work with maybe less work. When motivation fades in one area, it is restored in another. You see everything as a whole picture. It is more visible under one umbrella. You get things for what you have done, not necessarily in the same place but in a different place. You know very well that every work of yours is acknowledged by Him.”

Whether it is God or not, truly there is a balance in this universe. For me, God is within, the consciousness itself. The idea is that a wholesome picture has to be seen in everything. That gives the balance in emotions and stability in mind.

To conclude this, I feel this is a beginner level of thinking: “I am under one umbrella.” There is a wider level of understanding that “I” here is not just me, but everything in the universe. All under one umbrella.
